- "Union Technique de l'Electricité" (UTE) is the National standards body for the electrotechnical field. UTE is the French Electrotechnical Committee, member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and of the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation (CENELEC).
- UTE is in charge of the Standardisation of equipment, installations and services in the electrotechnical sector. Besides the development of French, European and international standards, UTE writes, publishes and circulates technical documents.
- UTE assists French Authorities in drawing up technical regulations.
UTE takes an active part in international and European standardisation work and prepares the French views on these bodies.
- UTE is responsible for standards activities within 162 Technical Commissions in charge of developing standards. In fact, most of them are "mirror commissions" of
IEC technical committees or CENELEC technical committees.
The UTE Technical Council supervises work of these
commissions.
